Optical Compatibility

High-quality transparent potting adhesive can achieve a light transmittance of more than 90% (in the visible light band) and has a low yellowing index. It will not block the light output efficiency of the lamp’s light source, making it suitable for LED lamps, optical lamps, and other types that require light transmittance. At the same time, it can fill the gaps inside the lamp, reduce light refraction/scattering losses, and improve light utilization efficiency.

Protective Performance

  • Waterproof and Moisture-proof: It can reach IP67/IP68 protection levels, isolating external moisture and dust from entering the lamp cavity, and preventing short circuits or oxidation of circuit boards and light source modules.

  • Light Transmittance and Yellowing Resistance: Priority should be given to products with a yellowing index (ΔYI) < 3 (after 1000h UV aging test) to ensure no obvious light transmittance attenuation during long-term use of the lamp.
  • Temperature Resistance Matching: According to the lamp’s working temperature rise (for example, the core temperature of high-power LED lamps can reach above 120℃), select an adhesive type whose upper temperature resistance limit is more than 20℃ higher than the actual working temperature.
  • Environmental Protection and Safety: It should comply with environmental standards such as RoHS and REACH. Especially for indoor lamps, it is necessary to avoid excessive volatile organic compounds (VOC).
  • Process Adaptability: For automated production lines, two-component adhesives with low viscosity (500-1000 mPa・s) and machine-mixable properties are preferred; for manual potting, adhesives that can be cured at room temperature and have an operation time of more than 30 minutes can be selected.

4. Application Precautions

  • Before potting, the surface of the lamp cavity must be cleaned (to remove oil stains and dust), otherwise the adhesion and sealing performance of the adhesive will be affected.
  • Control the potting amount to avoid adhesive overflow polluting the lamp’s appearance, and at the same time reserve a small amount of expansion space (especially for heat-curing adhesives).
  • For outdoor lamps, it is recommended to use them with sealing rubber rings. The combination of potting adhesive and sealing rings provides double protection and improves waterproof reliability.
